Craft Chic Tuesdays: Terry-Cloth Caddy

It always seems so hard to find space in the bathroom! Unless you live in a mega mansion (or are blessed with a big bathroom), countertop space simply cannot hold all of our daily toiletries. Thankfully, there is a way to turn unwanted towels into a reusable bathroom caddy. This is perfect for students living in dorms or siblings sharing a bathroom. We enjoy the simplicity of this craft and the relevance of the terry cloth towel to its environment.

Materials Needed
Hand towel (about 19 inches by 40 inches)
Straight pins
Sewing machine
1/2-inch-diameter dowel (2 inches longer than width of towel)
One yard grosgrain ribbon
  1. Fold down top of towel 1 1/2 inches; pin, then sew to create a channel for the dowel.
  2. Flip towel over; fold it onto itself so it overlaps about 5 inches; pin.
  3. Repeat to make a second pleat so bottom edge of towel is bottom edge of caddy; pin.
  4. Sew along both sides of towel, leaving channel at top open and reinforcing pockets’ corners.
  5. Sew two more seams to divide towel’s width into thirds.
  6. Pass dowel through channel, tie ribbon to both ends, and hang.
