.) Neutralize Your Brights – We don’t want you to think it’s bad to use bright colors in your home because we love them! Bold hues keep us happy and optimistic. If however you are experience a bit of unrest, you may want to neutralize them with…well, neutrals. Pair your canary yellows, limes and fuchsias with soft creams and beiges to create a more spacious feel. Not only will it open up your room, but it will also evoke a dream-like space with hints of cheer.

.) Tone Down Your Bed & Bath – The bedroom and bathroom are two of the most intimate spaces in the home, and should therefore be the most relaxing. Keep strong colors (e.g. tomato reds) away from these areas as they will constantly keep you stimulated. Try using a few muted hues to still show a little color, but allow you to rest a little. Add a few aromatherapy candles to enhance the soothing mood and you are all set to enjoy a peaceful evening.

.) Fix Your Blues with Blue! – We have all heard the saying “I’ve got the blues,” but that is not a literal interpretation. Blue hues are some of the best colors to have in an erratic space as they are both comfortable and serene. Use blue in your home to recall fine memories of the coast or time at a countryside retreat. Blue is neutral, peaceful and extremely stable.

.) Relax with Earth Tones – One of our favorite color palettes to use in a home are earth tones. Have you ever noticed how relaxing landscape imagery can be? Put external elements indoors with a few natural tones. Taupe, sage, and cream are a few of the colors that help keep us at a standstill. Fuse these colors into your interior through home accents and décor. You can even revamp your space with new furniture that reflects this minimal palette.

.) Calm Yourself with Cool Colors – There is something about cool colors (blues, greens, purples and blues) that make us stop and smell the roses. Add these laid back colors into your rooms to turn down the heat and relax. Their easiness in intensity offer a break from emotional warms like red, orange and yellow.
