Upcycling - the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value.
In our charge to be better stewards of the Earth, we have discovered new ways to use old things. Upcycling is a trending process that removes “waste” from the trash, and adds more accessories to our homes. So what does it really mean to upcycle an item?

Suppose you own a collection of luggage that is no longer functional. Rather than throwing it out, drill legs on a side to create an end table (or ottoman). Sure it requires a bit of crafting, but the end result is a brand new piece of furniture. There are so many great project ideas with upcycling…you just have to pick one.

Upcycling is such an important practice in decorating because it reduces waste. If you can take an item and convert it into something new, you have lowered both your trash output and material intake. After all, is there really a need to buy something new if you can make it out of something you already have?
