Grammy Award Winner Sheryl Crow Talks Design with ELLE

Singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow has graced the music industry for decades with hits like “All I Want to Do,” “If It Makes You Happy,” and “Everyday Is a Winding Road.” Her upcoming album titled 100 Miles from Memphis takes a detour from her country (pop-rock) past revealing the “vintage soul” of Memphis. Much like the sound of her new album, her New York home reflects a vintage feel.
“I grew up going junking, as we’d call it, with my family, and I’ve been addicted to it ever since,” Crow says. “It’s a totally therapeutic pastime for me. I can spend hours going through flea markets.” She gestures in the direction of a nineteenth-century prosthetic leg leaning against the wall. “I’ve got some real weird stuff (ELLE).”
Crow’s NoHo loft cleverly merges modern design with antique inspirations. Almost every room showcases an antique find that displays a piece of Sheryl’s eclectic personality. Splashes of individual design are evident with Holophane pendant lamps, frosted sliding doors on each bedroom, and concrete flooring in the bathroom. And we could not forget the French Country elements in the loft. Everything from the honey woods, to beamed ceilings, and rusted (metal) furniture all reveal a casual, French countryside inspired home.
Overall, we find Sheryl Crow’s home relaxing, casual, and “old-fashioned chic.” Every room offers a different design (and inspiration) making it a joyful surprise for visitors.
