Look out hospitality designers! It looks like there is a growing trend of hiring celebrities to design hotels. First Betsey Johnson (iconic fashion designer) with the Plaza Hotel, and now Victoria Beckham?
Allegedly, the Posh and former Spice Girl has been commissioned by Dubai ruler Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum to design a new luxury hotel (The Mirror). Dubai is one of the leading cities (emirate) in urban architecture and design now hosting the world’s largest tower.
The lush hotel will be built on Isla Moda (below), a fashion-inspired island off the coast of Dubai. If Victoria participates, she is set to take home a nice decorator fee of $25 million. Her input would influence the hotel’s room designs, decor, and furnishings.
