Urbanbuild: Architecture Students Rebuilding New Orleans

URBANbuild is a design|build program in which teams of students take on the design and construction of prototypical homes for New Orleans’ neighborhoods. URBANbuild’s partner in the development of these homes is Neighborhood

URBANbuild is an excellent program that is putting their architecture where their mouth is. Students of the Tulane School of Architecture are getting necessary field experience while rebuilding their community.  URBANbuild partners with local businesses and companies to provide efficient and sustainable living for habitants of the devastated Katrina quarters. This is a wonderful collaboration of various talents in New Orleans who have shown their dedication to the town’s revitalization.

URBANbuild both designs and creates homes that can be LEED certified. Here are some of the few benefits a LEED certified home would offer:
  • Lower water & energy bill
  • Improved air quality
  • Reduced CO2 emissions
